Manteo (3-4) only put together two balls into play in the defeat and the only lead held in the game was a bomb jacked by Tanner Sawyer on the very first pitch in the bottom of the first over the left field wall that was the only offensive production Manteo would be able to bring to the scoring affair as multiple skied balls and fielded ground balls were just found in apparent fashion for First Flight to make the right plays in getting outs. Â
The Nighthawks took the lead in the top of the third when Fionn Reilly hit a dart to center field in the top of the third, lifting First Flight over Manteo 2-1.Â
First Flight would close up the show in the sixth inning ,tacking on Manteo to fly the surrender flag with yet another two RBI’s on one hit.. Brody Stephens led the charge with a line drive that got down into center field that brought in two base running Nighthawks.Â
On the mound, Lavier had an absolute night for the pitching staff, yielding a one run home run on one loud contact hit spanning the whole 7 innings striking out 6 hitters record for himself and for a sophomore having absolute command with his pitches not issuing any free passes.Â
Through the loss, Drew Brown wheeled and dealed with his own showcase gem of throwing 11 strikeouts . The junior had his best outing that set the foundation for more excellent Friday night’s going for 5 innings only really allowing two loud contact hits on four runs.Â
Colin Godfrey and Tanner Sawyer were the only two Redskins able to find a way to get their hits to land in the field.Â
Moving from the game, Manteo is now one game away from being .500 at 3-4.Â
