Hot Bats Of Austin And Huntingford Slash First Fight Defense In Rivalry Game Manteo 5 First Flight 1

Manteo had a energy , gaining 3 spot in the third inning and two hitters at the plate in Austin and Huntingford contributing 4 RBI’s together to do the damage in a 5-1 local island win over First Flight Friday night.

Huntingford at the plate lasered out two hits, brought in two RBI’s and sent a home run over the wall as Manteo put together 10 hits at the dish. Kayla Austin also had a solid day swinging the bat tacking on two hits, two runs, one of those hits being a double.

First Flight would show up first in the game offensively , slapping a ball over the outfield wall to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Manteo would respond in the bottom of the third with a gash of 3 runs, taking the lead and that would be a stab in the bats of the Nighthawks.

The Redskins would provide more scoring in the fifth inning, tacking on two runs setting the margin at a four run deficit.

Makenna Gray was an absolute ace on the mound for the Manteo Redskins. The sophomore only surrendered one hit on one earned run, but absolutely flexed and fanned out a scorching red hot 16 strikeouts bringing some of her own juice to the pitchers circle.

Manteo was perfect flashing the leather gloves , not having a single error in the field the whole game.

Manteo continued to grow its confidence now with four straight wins and will face a local island school in Cape Hatteras Secondary on the road next Tuesday night.
