Nags Head, N.C. —Today’s spotlight shines on Manteo standout Drew Brown, a dominant two-way player who proved to be one of the top athletes in the 2A East this baseball season.
Brown, an outfielder and pitcher for the Redskins, put together a season that earned him votes for both Albemarle 2A Conference Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. His ability to influence the game in every phase made him one of the most valuable players in the region.
On the mound, Brown established himself as one of Eastern North Carolina’s premier arms. He finished the season ranked sixth in strikeouts with 106 punchouts, consistently overpowering opposing hitters with a fastball that kept batters guessing all year long. Whether Manteo needed a big-game performance or an inning-ending strikeout, Brown delivered.
At the plate, Brown was just as dangerous. He led the team in slugging, blasted a home run, scored 19 runs, and swiped nine bases. His combination of power, speed, and baseball IQ made him a constant threat whenever he stepped onto the field.
What separates Brown from many players is his ability to impact the game in multiple ways. He can beat you with his bat, his speed, his glove, or by taking the mound and shutting down an opposing lineup. That versatility made him a key piece of Manteo’s success throughout the season.
Drew Brown is the perfect player to highlight—a true difference-maker whose all-around game helped establish him as one of the top players in the 2A East.
