Northeastern’s Aaron Harris Receives Rookie Mini Camp Invite From Cleveland Browns

Former Northeastern High School standout quarterback and wide receiver Aaron Harris could soon be making his way to Sundays. According to Mary Kay Cabot, the Cleveland Browns have invited Harris to participate in rookie minicamp this weekend—an opportunity that could be the first step toward an NFL roster spot.

Harris has carved out a reputation as a dynamic, versatile playmaker, and that adaptability is exactly what makes him stand out in settings like rookie minicamp. After transitioning to cornerback at North Carolina A&T State University, Harris put together an impressive final two seasons, recording 29 solo tackles and 5 interceptions, returning those picks for 107 yards and a touchdown.

His explosiveness doesn’t stop on defense. As a return specialist, Harris has been electric—racking up 1,084 return yards on just 43 opportunities, including one trip to the house. That big-play ability could be a major asset as he looks to catch the eye of NFL coaches.

For Harris, the moment is about more than just football—it’s about representing where he comes from and inspiring those who follow.

“Honestly, it means everything. I’ve truly been blessed to be able to make it as far as I have, especially coming from Elizabeth City where we kind of get overlooked, but in reality some of the best athletes I’ve ever seen are from this area. But I’m just grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me, and I can do nothing but thank God for all he has done for me and whatever he has planned for me moving forward.

Getting a shot at the NFL has always been a dream of mine, and I’m living proof that you can achieve whatever it is that you want to achieve, no matter where you come from. It’s all about the work you put in when nobody’s watching, and keeping God first in everything that you do, and I promise you, it can happen.”

The next chapter for Harris is just beginning, but his journey already sets a powerful example for future athletes in the Northeastern football program. If he earns his shot, Harris would become one of the first players in the Antonio Moore era with a chance to suit up at the next level—proof that talent from Elizabeth City can rise all the way to the league.
