Ridgecroft began their postseason play in the TIC baseball tournament yesterday , absolutely crushing Albemarle School in a 18-3 blowout at Lawrence Academy .Â
The Rams exposed the youth and multiple errors of their opponent in the first inning. Landon Woodard hit an inside the park homerun creating the buzz early for Ridgecroft, and Ridgecroft had two more runs scored thanks to fielding errors on missed pop flies to the fielders; laying out the scoring margin at 5-0 at the end of the first inning.Â
The second inning laid the road map for the drive home.Â
Jaleel Woodley and RJ Little both land blasted RBI’s and manufactured runners in scoring position for themselves, while RJ Little and Cade Farmer both get sent down the basepath on walks sending runners home on free passes as Ridgecroft began to warm up the bus for Albemarle cranking out 10 runs to expose the margin near to a run rule.Â
Albemarle School, who came into the contest 0-10, would not just lay over and give it away. The Colts would find a way to put 3 runs on through three quick innings, but the damage of Ridgecroft was nearly enough to keep the Colts to refrain.
On the mound, Cade Farmer got the ball and made a difference throughout his performance , yielding three runs over three innings while hosing 7 batters.Â
The win creates some much needed energy for the Rams, who now have their whole pitching staff saved up for the rest of the tournament. With Lawrence in the semifinals , Ridgecroft will have to completely execute in all phases to avoid a sweep from the Warriors of Lawrence Academy.
