Greensboro- The West led by Dionte Neal and was honestly favored to win the game, but the sharp shooting of the East All stars proved otherwise, scoring 63 points in the first half and shooting the lights out from the perimeter as it seemed the main objective for the West All-Stars was mainly focused just on scoring.Â
The East-West All-Star game put on by the North Carolina Coaches Association brings together the best senior class of basketball players in North Carolina playing inside the Novant Fieldhouse; the home of the Greensboro Swarm. The West had to overcome a deficit of more than 20 in the second half, and the defensive adjustments were made for the West All-Star team to bring the margin back to within a 3 possession game in the 4th quarter.Â
All the hype was about the guard Dionte Neal from the Reidsville program fresh off workouts with the UNCG Spartans Basketball team. Neal had been cold scoring wise for most of the game but with 3 seconds left West All-Stars Head Coach calls a timeout and the headline of the night is Neal delivers and lives up to the fame knocking down the game winning 3 to beat the East All-Star Team 102-101.
